When someone chooses to become an organ donor, this special individual is given the opportunity to enrich, and often save, the life of someone in need.
According to UNOS, more than 100,000 people in need of an organ are currently on the transplant waiting list,1 while there were fewer than 15,000 organ donors in 2008.*2 There's a crucial need for more organ donors.
While 98% of all adults have heard about organ donation and 90% of Americans say they support donation, only 35% of licensed drivers and ID card holders are registered organ donors, and only 30% know the essential steps to take to become a donor.3,4
This means that not enough people know what it takes to sign up to be a donor. That's why Astellas has made organ donation education a top priority.

As part of our commitment to the transplant community, Astellas remains at the forefront of supporting the individuals and organizations that promote organ donation education, including a partnership with Donate Life America.

Joining your state organ donation registry can be as easy as checking a box on your driver's license application.
