On January 1, the 5 winners of the Astellas Ride of a Lifetime 2010 contest rode aboard the Donate Life Rose Parade® float, themed "New Life Rises." By sharing their stories and riding on the float, the winners helped promote organ donation to millions of Rose Parade viewers.
Astellas launched the annual Ride of a Lifetime essay contest to honor those touched by transplantation. A panel of judges selects 5 essay winners. Each selected essayist is presented with a 5-night trip to California and the chance to become a member of the float-building team and ride aboard the Donate Life Rose Parade float.
